Street in Paris

“Street in Montparnasse, Paris” by Nils Kreuger captures a subdued corner of the French capital far removed from the grandeur of its famous boulevards. A solitary horse stands along a rough, quiet street surrounded by modest buildings, walls, rooftops, and chimneys, all dissolving into the cool gray-blue atmosphere. Kreuger’s loose brushwork and restrained palette give the scene a hazy, almost melancholic character, transforming an ordinary Montparnasse street into an evocative impression of everyday Paris.
