Autumn

“Autumn” by Nils Kreuger captures the quiet labor of the Swedish countryside as a farmer guides a horse-drawn plow across a freshly turned field. Painted in 1884, the scene is dominated by soft browns, muted reds, and a cool, hazy sky, creating the unmistakable atmosphere of a late autumn day. Kreuger transforms an ordinary moment of rural work into a deeply atmospheric landscape, with the solitary farmer and horse emphasizing the vastness and stillness of the surrounding fields.
