Toni Haller (1907–1944), also known by the name Hans Sterbik, was an Austrian painter recognized for his atmospheric alpine landscapes that captured the dramatic beauty of the Tyrol, the Salzkammergut, the Dolomites, and other mountainous regions of Central Europe. Working in a realist yet subtly romantic style, he became known for his ability to render crisp winter light, wide valleys, and towering peaks with clarity and emotional warmth. His paintings continue to appear at European auctions under both of his names, reflecting steady interest in early-to-mid-20th-century alpine art. Little is documented about his personal life, but he was born in Vienna in 1907 and died in 1944 in Königsberg (now Kaliningrad), leaving behind a legacy defined almost entirely through his evocative landscape work.
