Collection: Delphin Enjolras

Delphin Enjolras (1857–1945) was a French painter celebrated for his intimate portraits of women illuminated by the warm glow of lamplight or sunlight. Known for his refined use of color and delicate handling of light, he often depicted elegant young women reading, sewing, or playing musical instruments, creating a mood of quiet elegance and romantic intimacy. His style blended elements of academic realism with Impressionist influences, resulting in works that were both technically precise and atmospherically rich. Born in Coucouron, France, Enjolras studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Jean-Léon Gérôme and Pascal Dagnan-Bouveret. He exhibited regularly at the Salon de Paris, gaining a devoted following. Though little is recorded about his private life, Enjolras dedicated himself to painting throughout his long career, remaining active until his death in 1945.
