Collection: Allan Douglas Davidson

Allan Douglas Davidson (1873–1932) was a British painter celebrated for his portraits, genre scenes, and allegorical works, often infused with a romantic and Edwardian elegance. Trained at the Royal Academy Schools in London, he exhibited widely, earning recognition for his delicate brushwork, rich color palettes, and ability to capture both beauty and character in his subjects. Davidson’s paintings often featured women in classical or idyllic settings, blending realism with a touch of idealism. Born in London, he was the son of Scottish genre painter Thomas Davidson and grew up in an artistic environment that shaped his career. Married to fellow artist Frances Ethel Cauty, he remained an active figure in the British art scene until his death in 1932.
